Press Release: Experts Call for Increased Public Participation, Openness in Managing Mekong Region's Environment

Compilation Report: "Advancing Environmental Governance: Perspectives from the Regional Environmental Forum for Mainland Southeast Asia"

The Regional Environmental Forum (REF) for Mainland Southeast Asia is an annual platform for open exchange, discussion and networking about environmental issues in mainland Southeast Asia. The REF is a joint initiative of the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace (CICP), the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), and the World Resources Institute (WRI).

The REF is a follow on from the Mekong Regional Environmental Governance (MREG) activity undertaken by WRI and partners in 2000-2001.

Objective

The REF provides a forum for civil society groups to:

  • Exchange information and analysis on the state of the region's environment;
  • Discuss trends in environmental governance;
  • Strengthen their own networks;
  • Develop a common agenda for promoting socially just, environmentally sustainable development across the region.

The REF is supported by the
Resources Policy Support Initiative (REPSI)
